Flyweight titlist Roman Gonzalez has already been scheduled to appear on the Golovkin-Lemieux PPV card on October 17th, he just needs a dance partner. With rumors swirling that Brian Viloria, Giovanni Segura, and McWilliams Arroyo each being in contention to land the bout, it appears that Viloria is leading the pack - which would likely only bolster GGG's chances at a successful first shot on PPV.
"Everything is pointing towards Viloria," Carlos Blandon, Gonzalez's manager, told ESPN.com on Sunday. "I'm glad Viloria's team jumped back in the race. I believe he is an excellent fighter and will help Roman give another amazing performance."
Viloria (36-4, 22 KOs) is currently coming off a first round stoppage win over Omar Soto on July 25th, and is perhaps the biggest name of those mentioned to be in consideration for the Gonzalez fight. Since the smaller weight divisions typically don't come with much fanfare or dollar figures, having Viloria on the card won't automatically make this a successful event, but it's definitely a solid match-up against top flyweight combatants.
