Roach wants Manny Pacquiao to fight Danny Garcia next

Freddie Roach says if it were up to him, he would have Manny Pacquiao fight Danny Garcia in his first fight back from injury.

Although there has been some talk of a potential Pacquiao-Khan fight in the Middle East next year, Freddie Roach tells Boxing News Online that he wants Danny Garcia as Pacquiao's next foe. Ignoring the fact that's a long-shot fight, with Manny being with Top Rank and Garcia being with rival Al Haymon, Roach believes that would be a perfectly easy comeback opponent for Manny.

"I want Danny Garcia, that's my choice. That's the easiest fight in the f****** world, you can tell his dad [Angel Garcia] that as well," he said.

"His dad psyched Amir Khan out but he won't psych Pacquiao out I promise. Pacquiao will knock Garcia out. I like the dad but he talks too much s***."

Freddie Roach also gives his account on Manny Pacquiao's injury and how he's progressing:

"He tells me it feels better, he went swimming the other day, he's playing a little basketball so he says it's coming along fine. But it won't be a while until he's in the ring again, three to six months."

Roach finally says that he still thinks the Khan fight is a good stylistic match-up for Manny if it comes off, and that Manny would absolutely beat Floyd Mayweather in a rematch - if Manny is operating at 100%.
