Jermain Taylor has been back in Arkansas courts this week, and the former middleweight champion's lawyer says that the 37-year-old fighter does intend to return to boxing if and when his mounting legal issues are settled.

Taylor is awaiting the third and final report of a mental evaluation, and while attorney Hubert Alexander revealed nothing specific about what they know so far, he did say, "We plan on boxing again, if that tells you something."

In July, Taylor pleaded innocent by reason of mental disease or defect on a charge of an alleged attack on a man at a rehab facility, where Taylor was undergoing treatment for substance abuse issues. Doctors have twice cleared Taylor to stand trial for other cases. He is also facing charges in an alleged shooting at his home last year, and was accused of threatening a family with a gun in January of this year.

Taylor and his wife recently divorced, and their estate in Little Rock was sold. Taylor's next hearing is set for September 14.
