Victor Ortiz charged with assault and battery

The story of 2015 is here, as Victor Ortiz, whose boxing career is pretty much stalled out, has been charged with assault and battery for a fight at a Kenny Chesney concert. That sentence alone is simply amazing.

Ortiz, 28, allegedly got into a fight alongside his brother with another man, and reportedly kicked the victim while he was down. If Ortiz were to be convicted, he could face a year in prison. That's entirely unlikely, but that's the spiel you have to run through with a story like this.

Ortiz (30-5-2, 23 KO) hasn't fought since a December 2014 win over club fighter Manuel Perez, which came 11 months after a pretty stunning second round knockout loss to veteran Luis Collazo. Ortiz's career has really never recovered from his infamous 2011 loss to Floyd Mayweather, as "Vicious" Victor has gone 1-2 since then, losing three of his last four overall. At this point, you also have to note that he was once on "Dancing with the Stars" and that he's had small roles in a couple movies to even make him seem relevant.
