Tonight at 10 pm EST on pay-per-view, Shane Mosley and Ricardo Mayorga dust off their gear and head into the ring at The Forum in Inglewood, Calif., for a rematch of their 2008 bout, which is still going forward despite numerous roadblocks.
Mosley, 43, and Mayorga, 41, have had to deal with attempts by Don King to shut down the event, a competing card just up the road at the Staples Center with PBC and ESPN backing and fighters, and, you know, the general doubts, skepticism, and "haters" that come from putting a pair of forty-something, generally thought to be shot fighters into a main event.
The fight also hit another speedbump yesterday. With a contracted weight of 162 pounds for the fight, Mayorga (31-8-1, 25 KO) came in at 165.4 pounds, and had to give up $50,000 because of that. Mosley (47-9-1, 39 KO) weighed in at 159.
The undercard features exciting young prospect Joel Diaz Jr (19-0, 15 KO) against Luis Arceo (28-13-4, 18 KO) in a lightweight bout, and Yulihan Luna (12-2, 1 KO) defending the IBF super bantamweight title against Maureen Shea (24-2, 12 KO). It also appears we'll see super middleweight Ronald Ellis (11-0, 9 KO) against Jas Phipps (5-5-2, 2 KO).

ROUND BY ROUND
SHANE MOSLEY vs RICARDO MAYORGA
Round 1: Mosley looks in great shape. Mayorga looks old and flabby. Mosley lands a good right hand early. Mosley with a jab, not a usual weapon for him. Mayorga is doing absolutely nothing. Mosley with a right that clips Mayorga at best. Mosley with a body shot. Mayorga finally lets loose with a left hook, doesn't land (or get very close). Mosley 10-9
Round 2: Mayorga's technique was never good, but it's atrocious now. His "footwork" is a debacle. But he is a LOT bigger than Shane in there and if he can rush him, who knows? First Mayorga complaint comes at about 50 seconds of round 2 on a shot to the hip. Right hand from Mosley and Mayorga is hurt. Mosley landing right hands with no attempt to resist from Mayorga. Mosley misses a left hook. Ricardo Mayorga straight up looks like a club fighter in there. And not a very good one. Mosley 10-9, 20-18
Round 3: Mayorga was pleading for water between rounds. He's not here to do anything but cash a check. Mosley actually showed up in shape to fight. Mayorga doing his hand down shtick and beginning to fuck around in there. Mayorga grabbing his balls, shouting at Mosley, dancing. All show from him tonight. No substance whatsoever. Mosley 10-9, 30-27
Round 4: At this point Mosley looks annoyed, not with Mayorga’s nonsense, but with the fact that he’s not getting a real fight. Mayorga eats a couple more shots. Mosley taking his time. This is now farcical. Mayorga is just trying to go long enough for this to not be embarrassing on paper. Mosley 10-9, 40-36
Round 5: Mosley cracks Mayorga with another right hand, and hurts him again. Stiff jab from Mosley shakes Mayorga a bit again. Mosley with a couple more good shots, but he's taking his time, however you want to take that. Mayorga’s wife is bawling at ringside as he’s cut. This is now getting painful to watch. ugly side of boxing. Mosley 10-9, 50-45
