The WBA Championship Committee has decided to order a mandatory bout between Jose Benavidez Jr (23-0, 16 KOs) and Italy's Michelle Di Rocco (40-1-1, 18 KOs). Both sides have thirty days to come to terms for the fight, otherwise it will be ordered to purse bid. The signed contracts must be submitted by September 25th, 2015.

Benavidez, 23, is currently the WBA's interim 140lb champion, a title he won by defeating Mauricio Herrera late last year in Las Vegas. For Di Rocco, this will mark his first title shot, coming at age 33. He only sports one loss on his record, stemming from a 2007 stoppage loss to Giuseppe Lauri, but has since reeled off 23-straight wins over in Italy (against no one I've ever heard of).

I would suspect that Benavidez has to be the favorite here despite Di Rocco's record, but I can't say that with any sort of confidence as I've never seen Di Rocco before. Who follows the Italian scene that can fill us in?
