Diego De La Hoya, the 21-year-old cousin of Oscar De La Hoya, will headline this Friday's upcoming LA Fight Club card at the Belasco Theater in Los Angeles, facing former title challenger Jesus Ruiz in a 10-round featherweight bout.

De La Hoya (11-0, 7 KO) has received a lot of TV time so far thanks largely to his name and connections, but he's also shown steady improvement and some notable talent, making him a legitimate prospect worth keeping an eye on as he climbs the ladder. Ruiz (34-6-5, 21 KO) has a largely empty record and was smoked by Leo Santa Cruz in January, one of the three fights where Santa Cruz took a lot of heat for facing inferior opposition. The 25-year-old Ruiz is much better suited as a step-up foe for De La Hoya, as he does have a few decent wins, but is far from world level.

The rest of the card will feature Christian Gonzalez, Everton Lopes, Jesus Delgado, and Rafael Gramajo in action. The fights will air live on Estrella TV at 10 pm EST.
