Early next year, unbeaten WBC champion Deontay Wilder will presumably face the toughest test of his career: mandatory challenger Alexander Povetkin. He's expected to have a fight beforehand, which Chris Arreola was a leading candidate for before his tepid draw against Fred Kassi and which is presumably scheduled for September 26th.
We might know his opponent now. You're not going to like it.
Before you get too upset, though, the elder Fury is not happy with the time allotted for preparation.
There's hope yet.
Peter, their father and trainer, would most likely prefer to have Hughie appear on the undercard of the October clash between Tyson and Wladimir Klitschko, and said as much after the above announcement.
Briggs v Hughie on klitchko Bill massive for Briggs to get his dream fight with klitchko. & exposure. We like it.

Briggs may be over the hill, but he's a reasonable opponent for Hughie (16-0, 8 KO). Wilder is not. We can only hope that cooler heads will prevail.
Wait, what am I saying? This is boxing.
