Former welterweight titlist Devon Alexander was supposed to be taking on Diego Chaves this September in an IBF title eliminator to determine their number one contender - but that proved to be just another prospective fight that took a ride off the rails after Alexander decided he wanted out.

"Devon Alexander pulled out of the IBF Welterweight Eliminator and Kevin Bizier has accepted. The IBF ordered Chaves and Bizier to fight for the number one spot," IBF Chairman told World Boxing News on Wednesday.

However, just because Bizier accepted the IBF's offer, doesn't mean the fight will necessarily happen. With there now being a number of welterweight fighters looking to make their own high-profile bouts, after Floyd Mayweather officially selected Andre Berto as an opponent, there are increasing rumors that Kell Brook might give Diego Chaves a shot at his IBF strap straight away on October 24th. Brook is currently riding wins over Jo Jo Dan and Frankie Gavin, and Chaves may well be the biggest, most relevant name he can secure in the immediate future.
