This afternoon at 4 pm EST on NBC, Premier Boxing Champions puts on its third card of the week, this one from Foxwoods in Connecticut, featuring the return of former middleweight titleholder Peter "Kid Chocolate" Quillin in the main event.
Quillin (31-0-1, 22 KO) will be facing little-known Australian Michael Zerafa (17-1, 9 KO) in the 10-round fight. As far as on-paper mismatches go, this one is frankly worse than anything PBC has presented to date, and there have been a few sorry main events already on the series. Quillin is coming off of a draw against Andy Lee in April. Zerafa has faced one true quality opponent in his career, a shutout loss to Arif Magomedov last October.
In the co-feature, and keeping with PBC tradition, we have a better matchup, as IBF junior middleweight titleholder Cornelius "K9" Bundrage (34-5, 19 KO) defends against rising contender Jermall Charlo (21-0, 16 KO). It's the first world title fight and a major step up in competition for Charlo, so we'll really get to see what he's made of today. Bundrage may not be a world beater, but he's a very solid fighter who knows his way around the ring.
Join us this afternoon for live coverage ahead of Mayweather-Berto!

ROUND BY ROUND
PETER QUILLIN vs MICHAEL ZERAFA
Round 1: Weights tonight: Quillin 182, Zerafa 168. So it’s also an actual physical mismatch. Zerafa opens up about a minute in and gets hit with a couple shots, then backs off. There's a good right from Zerafa. Doesn't seem to have bothered Quillin, but it got there. Little firefight in the corner, Zerafa gets clipped with a couple hooks, but not flush. You can say this: Quillin looks as easy to hit as ever. And there’s Quillin jumping in with a left that stings Zerafa. Quillin with a right and an uppercut near the bell. Quillin 10-9
Round 2: Right hand misses, left hook grazes Zerafa. Quillin getting a bit more aggressive. Right to the body. Quillin with a lead hook. Zerafa is trying. You can give him that much. When he sees an opening, he swings. Quillin to the body, Zerafa tries to throw a combo upstairs. Quillin up 2-0. Easy work, as expected. Quillin 10-9, 20-18
Round 3: Zerafa trying to make it a little rough. Probably won't work much for him since one assumes Quillin is physically stronger. Zerafa throwing a couple shots. Quillin chases Zerafa with some power shots, doesn't get all the way home. Not really impressive thus far from Quillin, kind of taking his time and laying back a lot more than you might want against someone who doesn't represent any threat. Zerafa does OK this round and Quillin doesn't really do anything. Go figure. Zerafa 10-9, Quillin 29-28
Round 4: Quillin starting to open up with wild power shots. Zerafa standing his ground and firing back. Zerafa! Quillin flicking out a long jab, smacking him. Hard hook from Quillin shakes Zerafa just a bit. Zerafa with another combo late in the round. You could argue Zerafa this round, too, but I won't. Quillin 10-9, 39-37
Round 5: LOOK AT ZERAFA FIGHT! Zerafa should not have fought that much, he just got knocked out. Quillin TKO-5
MARCUS BROWNE vs GABRIEL CAMPILLO
Round 1: This is pre-recorded but let's do it anyway. A pair of southpaws, a prospect against a veteran and former titleholder. Campillo is a terribly slow starter, so watch that. HEY! Campillo hurt and down in 38 seconds. Hard body shot and Campillo is down again and it's over. Browne TKO-1
CORNELIUS BUNDRAGE vs JERMALL CHARLO
Round 1: Jab battle to start, and then a little over halfway into the round, Bundrage goes down! Nice right hand that dropped K9 there over a lazy jab to the body. Bundrage up and fighting, doesn't seem to be in too bad of shape at the moment. Charlo not going overly aggressive, either, reading the situation well and not getting too excited. Charlo 10-8
Round 2: Charlo continues using the jab to establish distance and dictate where this fight is fought. Bundrage trying to jab his way in, but not doing much with it. Hard jab and down goes Bundrage again! Charlo with a 1-2 that busts through the guard. Bundrage trying to frustrate Charlo now, but he's really not doing well so far. Charlo is physically dominating him. Charlo 10-8, 20-16
Round 3: Bundrage hurt again early in the round, and K9 is down for a third time! This is really a great performance from Charlo so far. Referee warns K9 that he's watching close, but fight goes on. Bundrage now actively backing away. Charlo turning up the heat a bit more now, looking for the finish. Right hand gets through, and Charlo now banging to the body with K9 in the corner. Bundrage ties him up. Bundrage trying to ugly this thing up and buy himself some time. A minute left in the round. Jab from Charlo, and another. Pumping it out, then sweeps in with a hook that grazes Bundrage. HARD RIGHT HAND AND DOWN GOES BUNDRAGE! It's over! Bundrage protests on his back, but it's over. Charlo TKO-3
