Scott Fitzgerald, an amateur boxing star from Preston, England, has signed a professional deal with Eddie Hearn's Matchroom Boxing, and will make his professional debut on November 7, according to Sky Sports.
Fitzgerald, 23, won gold at the 2014 Commonwealth Games, and has also fought in the World Series of Boxing for the British Lionhearts. He'll make his pro debut as a junior middleweight, and is tentatively scheduled to fight again on November 21, part of the Darleys Perez-Anthony Crolla II card in Manchester.
Hearn believes that Fitzgerald has a style that will make him an exciting pro, and called him an "exceptional" amateur fighter.
Here's the video of Fitzgerald's win over India's Mandeep Jangra in the gold medal match of the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. Jangra was ranked 12th in the world at the time, and is ranked 6th in the world by AIBA at welterweight (69kg) as of June 1, 2015.
