PBC on CBS results: Anthony Dirrell shuts out Marco Antonio Rubio

Anthony Dirrell had no trouble against Marco Antonio Rubio today in Texas.

Anthony Dirrell bounced back from his first career loss with a dominant and relatively easy win over a faded looking Marco Antonio Rubio today in the PBC on CBS main event, winning on shutout scores of 100-90 across the board in Corpus Christi, Texas.

BLH had the fight 99-91 for Dirrell, giving Rubio a charity round in the fourth for fun because we were clearly looking at a boring fight and trying to find some way to entertain ourselves.

Dirrell (28-1-1, 22 KO) looked about like he always has, in good ways and with the same flaws, while Rubio (59-8-1, 51 KO) looked out of shape and old, and like he didn't have a whole lot to offer. He did attempt to conserve his energy as best he could, it seemed, and Dirrell was content to not push the pace much, potshotting from the outside and throwing single punches. Rubio was hurt a couple times, but Dirrell never really went for a stoppage.

Still, you can't really fault what Dirrell did, as he took care of business and easily handled his opponent. Rubio reportedly had to lose 50 pounds just to make weight for this fight, and it showed.

Asked if he felt his performance indicated he was ready to go after another world title, Dirrell gave a predictable answer. "Definitely. I had an off night against Badou (Jack), but everybody seen tonight, it's in my jabs, straight punches, and I was moving. Definitely, I deserve another shot. Groves, Jack, let's go."
