Freddie Roach: I have an offer to train Luis Ortiz and Guillermo Rigondeaux

Freddie Roach reveals that he has an offer on the table to train Guillermo Rigondeaux and Luis Ortiz but that he's currently undecided.

Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach revealed some interesting little tidbits during a media session caught by FightHype. The most intriguing part to me, and likely most of you, was the part about offers he says he has on the table to train two notable Cuban fighters.

But Roach began by talking about the heavyweight landscape, saying he likes Deontay Wilder:

"I like Wilder a little bit...he hadn't been past three [rounds] and he went ten and he looked really good doing it. I think Wilder's gonna be a threat there. I like that fight, that kid from England might be just a little too young right now [presumably referring to Anthony Joshua]. I mean he's not that mature number of fights wise, as a pro, but he's doing very well. But I think that's a good fight down the line, I would like to see it."

"But that other guy that can sing..." Roach quipped with a smile, making an unfortunate reference to Tyson Fury which still brings back uncomfortable memories...The room has a laugh.

Roach then went on to summarily dismiss Shannon Briggs chances of doing anything significant in the division, which is probably something that most fans would expect.

"He's very muscular and all that stuff, but once he gets hit on the chin...what's he like 50 now?! It's over," proclaimed Roach.

Afterwards, Roach was asked about his thoughts on heavyweight Luis Ortiz:

"He looks good too. I actually have an offer to take him on and I'm not so sure yet. Him and Rigondeaux both want to come together here. I like both guys, I like both fighters, I just don't know if I have time," said Roach.

Tell me fans, what would you think of a potential pairing of Rigondeaux and Ortiz with the offensive-minded Freddie Roach? They're two different fighters, so it's a two-part question.
