It looks like Amir Khan has taken a break from his world tour (or was that his girl's tour?) and found himself back inside an Oakland boxing gym -- something that'll be sure to delight his trainer Virgil Hunter, I'm sure.
In this video featuring Khan in training, he briefly speaks on his upcoming plans:
"I'm training for, hopefully, the end of March. That's when I want to fight next," said Khan. "Opponent-wise...we're looking at a few names at the moment. I've got a few options there. Look, Danny Garcia is fighting for the WBC title. Even though I'm the No. 1, he's got the opportunity to fight for it, him being the No 2.
"I think I'll get my chance to win that title against him and have that rematch which I've been looking forward to for a long, long time. So hopefully the Danny Garcia rematch is a fight that can happen this summer - if he wins that is. I mean the winner of Guerrero and Garcia, the winner I'll fight - so that's good," Khan finished as he got back to his workout.
Needless to say, with Khan talking a summer fight with the Garcia-Guerrero winner, his much talked about fight with Kell Brook is no closer to being made. But a rematch with Danny Garcia will suit me just fine.
In fact, I actually predicted that Khan would opt for a shot at the WBC title before facing Brook in an attempt to kill two birds with one stone -- vindicating his KO loss to Garcia while building a big unification fight with Brook afterwards. Hopefully that train is on schedule.
