Miguel Cotto's name has been linked to Juan Manuel Marquez over the last month, but Cotto's advisor is playing his cards close to his chest.

Over the last month or so I've heard a number of rumors about a potential fight between Miguel Cotto and Juan Manuel Marquez. Because nothing substantive has come out about the potential fight I've mostly ignored it, but as reports continue to come out surrounding the the topic, it may be worth discussing. Where there's smoke there's fire?

The first reports about the prospective meeting of the two Hall of Famers indicated that they might meet somewhere between welterweight and junior middleweight, and if the fight did come together, it would certainly drum up interest among fans.

World Boxing News reached out to Gaby Penagaricano, Cotto's trusted advisor, to confirm if Cotto was in fact looking to make a fight with Marquez, but Penagaricano wouldn't exactly spill the beans.

"It's too early to tell if Miguel Cotto and Juan Manuel Marquez will eventually fight," he pointed out to World Boxing News.

"We all know In boxing that it is hard to totally discard a plan and at this point I would say that anything is possible."

Miguel Cotto is most recently coming off a November loss to Canelo Alvarez where he lost his WBC middleweight title. Juan Manuel Marquez hasn't fought since soundly beating Mike Alvarado in May 2014. Since then he's been plagued by serious knee problems, prompting many to believe he's de facto retired.

So just for the sake of discussion. What do you make of a fight between Cotto and Marquez?
