Sergey Kovalev and Jean Pascal are fit and ready for tomorrow night's light heavyweight title rematch on HBO, as the fighters were both below the 175-pound limit today in Montreal.
Kovalev (28-0-1, 25 KO) came in at 174.6 pounds, with Pascal (30-3-1, 17 KO) slightly below that, at 174.3. The two met on March 14 last year at the same venue, with Kovalev stopping Pascal in the eighth round of an entertaining battle. The rematch has been made mostly because it was the biggest fight available for both guys, but Pascal has done his best to create a grudge match atmosphere. After the two weighed in, he marched toward Kovalev and got in his face, but Kovalev didn't bite.
The HBO co-feature is also good to go, as welterweights Dmitry Mikhaylenko and Karim Mayfield made weight. Mayfield (19-2-1, 11 KO) had to strip nude for the weigh in, but hit the divisional limit of 147 pounds. Mikhaylenko (20-0, 9 KO) came in just under, at 146.7.
