Arthur Abraham withdraws from Martin Murray rematch with elbow injury

Murray is on the lookout for a replacement foe.

The rematch between Arthur Abraham and Martin Murray, which was scheduled for the November 12th Monte Carlo card headlined by Luis Ortiz vs. Malik Scott, is now kaput after "King Arthur" suffered an elbow injury in training.

This would be a fairly bog-standard announcement were it not for the fact that the WBO, whose super middleweight belt Abraham recently lost to Gilberto Ramirez, had ordered an eliminator between Abraham and Robin Krasniqi a couple of days ago despite Abraham-Murray still being on.

Murray, who is presently still on the card, is not pleased.

I am violently opposed to the vast majority of conspiracy theories, but the timing is pretty suspect.

Krasniqi (46-4, 17 KO) has won three straight at super middleweight since being stopped by Jurgen Braehmer in March of 2015. The loss marked his second failed title bid, as Nathan Cleverly virtually swept him back in 2013.

In addition to the main event, the card still features Jamie McDonnell’s bantamweight title defense against Liborio Solis and Jason Sosa’s inaugural super featherweight defense against Stephen Smith.
