Andre Ward ‘recharged’ after extended time off

Andre Ward says on Nov. 19 you’ll see a version of him unlike anything you’ve seen before.

November 19th can’t come soon enough! On that evening we’ll all bear witness to two of the top pound-for-pound fighters in the world go head to head for the #1 P4P position.

Leading into this fight Andre Ward, who will fight for the third time this year after fighting just 3 times since 2011, says his recent inactivity helped him and that now he’s hitting his stride.

"Look, I've been boxing for 20-plus years. That's a grind. Breaks like that can really benefit a veteran fighter like me because it afforded me the chance to recharge both mentally and physically.

"This is my third fight following my return, and I'm at my peak. On November 19, you'll see an Andre Ward you've never seen before."

Ward was also sure to mention that just because he was seldom in the ring the past few years, he was always training and treating his body right. So that’s something he expects to pay dividends.

The Sergey Kovalev vs Andre Ward fight continues to be as much as a pick ‘em fight as any with it generally being perceived as a true 50/50 fight. For me, Ward is one of perhaps 3 fighters (alongside Mayweather and Rigondeaux) that I actually have to see lose before I’d ever be willing to pick against them, but Kovalev is certainly not your average opponent.

Luckily we won’t have to wait much longer for the fight to begin. It all goes down next weekend on HBO PPV.
