Fighting on the east coast for the first time, California prospect Daniel Franco proved he has more than just charisma. He showed solid fundamentals, superior ring generalship, and explosive power.

The match started slow. In R2, it looked like Murray’s slickness was giving Franco fits. Yet in R3, Franco turned up the heat while, with a few well placed body shots, slowing Murray down.

Then in R4, Franco was going harder to the body, cutting to Murray’s midsection like it was a tree. Franco was able to move Murray to the corner. Then a monster right hook put Murray to sleep while he was still standing, with a left sending him to the canvas. Murray was unable to beat the count.

Franco is much improved. His defense is tighter, his timing more calculated, his rhythm more unpredictable. He’s now won by stoppage within his last three fights.
