Ward vs Kovalev, more: Fight times and boxing TV schedule for November 18-19

Fight fans’ most anticipated fight of 2016 is almost here.

Friday, November 18

Channel 5 (UK), 5:00 pm ET, George Groves vs Eduard Gutknecht. Groves is still trying to get another world title shot, and he has to win here to stay in that mix. Gutknecht is at the level of opposition that Groves has done fine against, so he’s the clear favorite here. BLH will have live coverage.

Estrella TV, 11:00 pm ET, Mauricio Herrera vs Pablo Cesar Cano. A decent matchup of second/third-tier veterans. They’re fighting for cherry Estrella TV main events, basically, or chances to be step-up opponents for prospects. It’s not a bad fight, but the stakes are fairly low.

Saturday, November 19

BoxNation (UK), 3:00 pm ET, Marco Huck vs Dmytro Kucher. This is a good matchup and could be a nice fight. Huck is trying to stay near the top of the division. Kucher is trying to join it. BLH will have live coverage.

Live Stream, 7:00 pm ET, Kovalev-Ward undercard. The “freeview” portion of the show will be streamed on YouTube by HBO, and we’ll have the feed here at BLH, too. The most intriguing fight on the slate is the professional debut of two-time Olympic gold medalist Claressa Shields.

HBO PPV, 9:00 pm ET, Sergey Kovalev vs Andre Ward, Oleksandr Gvozdyk vs Isaac Chilemba, Maurice Hooker vs Darleys Perez, Curtis Stevens vs James de la Rosa. The undercard is whatever, it’s as good as two limited promoters could scrape together, but the main event is worth the money on its own. We’ll have much more on the card this week. BLH will have live coverage.
