Rumors of Mayweather-Pacquiao 2 continue to grow

As if Floyd Mayweather making a surprise appearance at the Manny Pacquiao-Jessie Vargas fight wasn’t enough to fuel speculation of an impending sequel, Manny Pacquiao continues to suggest as much himself. Rumors have been growing that negotiations for May-Pac 2 may begin within the next few weeks with the Cinco de Mayo fight date (May 6) in being in play.

Then Pacquiao posted this photo on Instagram yesterday alluding to a rematch...

There’s been some mixed emotions from boxing fans about a rematch between Mayweather and Pacquiao — directly attributed to their first lackluster affair — but the fact is it would still be the biggest event in the sport and I’d bet most naysayers would still end up finding a way to tune in.

Moreover, there a very few compelling fights out there for either Mayweather, should he return, or Pacquiao — particularly considering they types of purses they’d like to command. Mayweather has intimated that he would only come back to boxing for a nine-figure payday, and if that's the case there is likely only one fighter who would fit the bill.
