There’s no doubt plenty of discussion and plenty of debate after last night’s big fight between Sergey Kovalev and Andre Ward, all of it about who truly won the fight.
All three ringside judges gave Ward (31-0, 15 KO) the decision, 114-113, while several pundits and media members and fans had it for Kovalev (30-1-1, 26 KO). (Others also had it for Ward, to be clear.)
It’s not debated, really, whether or not the fight was close and competitive, just who deserved the win.
I scored the fight 115-112 for Kovalev, seven rounds to five. Ward won seven rounds to five on each judge’s card. We’re talking about a couple of swing rounds — and there were a good handful of them in the fight -- deciding what was a world class display of skill, determination, and physical chess.
So, just for the sake of some good conversation, how did you score it?
