Junior welterweight Antonio Orozco (25-0, 16 KOs), attempting to make weight for tonight’s scheduled HBO Latino card, fainted at his home yesterday due to dehydration. Golden Boy matchmaker Robert Diaz confirms to RingTV that Orozco has now been pulled from the card.

“He passed out trying to make weight,” Diaz said in a phone interview. “He got too dehydrated. But he’s ok now. He just had to go to a hospital. They put IV’s in him and hydrated him back up.”

This is reportedly the first time that Diaz has known Orozco to have such a problem making weight. Orozco’s scheduled fight against Fidel Maldonado Jr. (22-3-1, 19 KOs) has been been replaced with Ronny Rios (26-1, 11 KOs) vs. Roy Tapia (12-1-2, 6 KOs), which will open the televised broadcast.

What’s not clear is what this exactly means for Orozco going forward. He had just been ordered to take on Amir Imam in a WBC eliminator bout if he had won tonight, but with him not fighting at all we’ll have to see how the WBC wants to handle his situation.
