It’s good to be wrong sometimes.
The troubled negotiations between Gennady Golovkin and Daniel Jacobs have, against all expectations, borne fruit. The WBA champions are set to do battle on March 18th at Madison Square Garden, with Roman Gonzalez and Oleksandr Usyk possible for the pay-per-view undercard.
Both fighters confirmed the bout on their Twitter pages.

Golovkin (36-0, 33 K), whose current knockout streak sits at 23, stopped a surprisingly-game Kell Brook in September for his second victory of 2016. He holds the IBF, WBC, IBO, and WBA "Super" middleweight titles,.
Jacobs (32-1, 29 KO) has been the "regular" WBA champion since his August 2014 knockout of Jarrod Fletcher. He’s stopped twelve consecutive opponents, including Peter Quillin, but his knockout of Sergio Mora in their rematch was his only fight of 2016.
Dan Rafael’s timeline has more details about the specifics, including the PPV price ($54.95), the ticket prices ($100-$1000), and the status of GGG-Canelo ("still talking").
This is about the best fight that could currently be made at middleweight, so well done, lads. We’ll have more details for you as soon as we learn them.
