Bad Left Hook Podcast #22 (Feb. 1, 2016): Frankie Gomez interview, Kovalev-Pascal recap

Today's episode features an interview with Frankie Gomez, plus discussion on the Kovalev-Pascal rematch and the rest of the weekend's action.

Scott Christ is the managing editor of Bad Left Hook and has been covering boxing for SB Nation since 2006.

HEY! It is Monday, it is February, a whole new month! The Bad Left Hook Podcast is back today, and there's plenty to talk about, as January wrapped up with plenty of fights this past weekend, leading us into about a three-week lull for big fights.

The show starts with a recap of the weekend's action, including Sergey Kovalev's destruction of Jean Pascal, why the matchup never really grabbed many of us, thoughts on Kovalev's post-fight interview and some of the reaction to that, and the somewhat over the top criticism of the co-feature fight between Dmitry Mikhaylenko and Karim Mayfield.

There's also some brief thoughts on George Groves' return in London, and the undercard fights from that show.

I also got a chance to speak with Frankie "Pitbull" Gomez, who returns to action this coming Friday night. Frankie talks to us about his upcoming fight, his weight issues last year, his amateur career, and more.
