Erickson Lubin improved his record to 14-0 (10 KO) with a one-sided decision win over Jose De Jesus Macias last night on Bounce TV, dropping Macias in the fifth round and winning on shutout scores on two cards, 100-89, and 99-90 on a third.
Lubin, 20, had to go ten rounds for the first time in this fight, as Macias (18-5-2, 9 KO) proved tough as advertised, having never been stopped in his career. It's a valuable fight for Lubin, at the very least, giving him vital experience going deeper into fights. He had gone eight rounds a couple of times before, but 10 is another matter, and he looked strong throughout. Macias was able to handle the power of Lubin, but he did get beaten up plenty in the fight.
On the undercard, Joseph Elegele (15-2, 11 KO) beat Alex De Jesus (21-2, 13 KO) by sixth round knockout in a fight contested between the welterweight and junior middleweight limits, and lightweight Dennis Galarza (12-1, 8 KO) beat Samuel Amoako (21-7, 15 KO) by decision over eight rounds on scores of 80-72 across the board.
