WBA welterweight titlist Keith Thurman knows he has to focus on the task at hand in Shawn Porter, but says that if he gets past this fight, he wants Danny Garcia next. Thurman recently spoke to WBN, indicating that he'd rather immediately take on Danny Garcia in a title unification match than Kell Brook because he believes it's the bigger fight domestically.
"Kell Brook is an amazing fighter, but the fight is not the same as in America, so the biggest fight for me and the American fight fans right now is Keith ‘One Time' Thurman versus Danny Garcia.
"Not only is it a tremendously big fight, but the winner of the fight gets to hold two titles at 147."
Danny Garcia just recently won the vacant WBC welterweight title that Floyd Mayweather used to own by beating Robert Guerrero last month, in a fight many didn't believe deserved to be for a world title. But if Garcia is willing to defend that belt against someone a little more like Keith Thurman, and a little less like Rod Salka, I'm sure that'll be just fine by the fans.
Meanwhile, Thurman says he'll continue his campaign of wanting to unify all the welterweight belts and becoming the undisputed world champ, something he's dreamed of since childhood.
