May 21st date at Barclays Center proposed for Wilder-Povetkin

The fighters have until two weeks from today (February 26th) to hash out an agreement.

We here at Wilder-Povetkin Watch™ have a difficult task: we scavenge the other, stronger blogs for every hypothetical nugget of hypothetical detail on the matchup, which by all rights should have happened by now. It's a tough, but honest living, and it's looking like we've got a solid haul today.

Wilder's promoter, Lou DiBella, spoke to The Ring about the parties' ongoing negotiations, which must bear fruit by February 26th to stave off a purse bid. He says that he and Povetkin promoter Andrey Ryabinski "spoke...about the framework of a deal," which is not a terribly inspiring statement, but they do seem to have a date and location in mind: May 21st at the Barclays Center.

Wilder (35-0, 34 KO) made his Barclays debut last month, when he obliterated Artur Szpilka with a gorgeous right hand after eight competitive rounds. Povetkin has never fought outside of Europe, competing entirely in Russia and Germany save for one trip to Finland in 2011.

Now that we've passed this along, it's back to the slog; it's a rough job, but someone's gotta do it.
