Former welterweight titleholder Andre Berto has joined the ranks of people who who believe that UFC star Ronda Rousey absolutely must improve her boxing, following Rousey's loss to former boxing champion Holly Holm late last year. Rousey's mother has said that she needs a new trainer, and another ex-UFC superstar, Chuck Liddell, has has offered to train her.
Berto told TMZ Sports that he'd like to give her a hand, too.
"Ronda isn't a pure boxer, Holly is," Berto said. "She needs to focus more on her boxing and cutting off the ring. I'd love to stop by her gym and give some pointers."
Berto (30-4, 23 KO) held the WBC welterweight title from 2008-11, but his reign was often criticized as being built on mediocre opponents, including the man he beat for the vacant belt. He also briefly held the IBF belt in 2011-12, before vacating, or being stripped, I don't remember which and it doesn't really matter. He also fought and lost to Floyd Mayweather last September.
If Rousey actually were to hire a new trainer to focus strictly on her boxing, one would suspect she'd hire, like, a respected boxing trainer.
