Manny Pacquiao offered some outspoken words that offended many when a TV station in the Philippines asked political candidates about their stance on homosexual relationships.
"It's just common sense," Pacquiao said in the remarks posted online by the TV5 network. "Have you seen any animal having male-to-male or female-to-female relations?"
Pacquiao reasoned that animals were better since they could recognize gender differences saying "if you have male-to-male or female-to-female [relationships], then people are worse than animals."
In the aftermath of these statements a number of Filipino celebrities came out to publicly condemn Pacquiao's statements, including singer Aiza Seguerra:
"You might've done our country proud but with your statement, you just showed the whole country why we shouldn't vote for you.
"And yes, I think you are an ignorant, bigoted hypocrite," Seguerra added.
Pacquiao would later apologize for his comments on social media, saying that he was sorry for anyone he hurt with his comments, while commenting that he's still opposed to same-sex marriage due to the teachings of the Bible.
