London's O2 Arena is the United Kingdom's second-largest indoor stadium in terms of crowd capacity, able to hold a solid 20,000 fans. It took the April 9th showdown between IBF Heavyweight Champion Charles Martin and Olympic star Anthony Joshua just a ninety seconds to sell it out, according to Matchroom Boxing.
Joshua has stopped opponents in less time on two separate occasions, taking out Matt Legg in eighty-three seconds and Michael Sprott in eighty-six. Gary Cornish missed out on joining the group by seven seconds.
The card, which technically only became "official" earlier today, got its first undercard bout in the form of Matthew Macklin vs. Brian Rose, but an undercard seems superfluous at this point. Joshua is a bona fide superstar, already at the point in his career where he can sell fights by himself. Should he demolish Martin, as most expect he will, the sky's the limit for him.
We'll keep you posted as the rest of the card takes shape.
