It certainly can't be the weather, but England seems to be the destination of choice for American titlists lately. Following his vacant title win over Vyacheslav Glazkov last month, Charles Martin is looking for a quick turnaround to defend his belt against the best available opponent in the heavyweight division -- Anthony Joshua.
Mike Borao, who manages Martin, had this to say about the potential fight:
"I can confirm that Charles Martin is willing to fight Joshua April 9 in London," Borao exclusively told World Boxing News on Friday.
"Charles wants to make a statement in his first defense and wanted a Wilder or Fury unification. Both are busy with mandatory and contracted fights with Povetkin and Klitschko, so Joshua is the next best thing."
Borao goes on to confirm that there have been preliminary discussions between both sides, and hopes that a deal can be struck. If not, Borao says that Martin still has plenty of other options on the table.
