Well, that whole SMS Promotions stint with 50 Cent didn't work out so well for Yuriorkis Gamboa (or really any other fighter under the banner). So now the Cuban dynamo has just signed a deal with new promotional company BB Promotions, based out of Barcelona.

"I want to thank to BB Promotions for making this new stage possible, in which I am sure that some important fights will be coming my way. I feel like a real part of this excellent team, it was such an experience to visit Barcelona, where I hope to base my future trainings. Until now I had never seen a promoting company work like this. I want to extend my thanks to all my fans for their support and let them know to keep an eye on our website for upcoming important news", said an enthusiastic Yuriorkis Gamboa during the photoshoot.

The promotional outfit admits that although they are new to the boxing promotion business, they have high hopes of popularizing the sport in Spain, adding that they looked at several world class fighters (including Guillermo Rigondeaux) before ultimately deciding to sign Gamboa. And although Gamboa is their first signing, they suggest it certainly won't be their last.

"We will keep working to sign the best available boxers. BB Promotions is a worldwide company, and even though we are new in this sector we have an excellent team full of hope, willing to work with everyone to reach the top", said David Bogajo (Chairman of BB Promotions).

So as Gamboa is expected to resume training within the coming weeks, he's reportedly targeting fights against Nicholas Walters and Javier Fortuna. Either would be interesting fights on paper, but one has to wonder how receptive established power brokers like Bob Arum and Al Haymon will be to a new kid in the sandbox. Time will tell...
