Antonio Orozco stayed undefeated with an easy stay-busy fight tonight on Estrella TV, knocking out former lightweight titleholder Miguel Acosta at 1:54 of the opening round.
Orozco (24-0, 16 KO) was fighting for the first time in 2016, coming off of a close but solid win over Humberto Soto last October on HBO. Acosta (29-9-2, 23 KO) has now lost his last five fights and hasn't scored an impressive win since 2010, so this was a fairly predictable outcome.
Featherweight Andrew Cancio (17-3-2, 13 KO) also had a quick night against a faded former world titlist, knockout out Hugo Cazares (40-9-2, 27 KO) in the third round. Cazares, 38, hadn't fought since a second round stoppage loss to Carl Frampton two years ago, and won his world titles at 108 and 115 pounds. So this was another pretty predictable outcome.
Middleweight prospect Jason Quigley improved to 10-0 (9 KO) with a first round knockout of Freddy Lopez (9-4, 7 KO), and super bantamweight Emilio Sanchez moved to 11-0 (8 KO) with a second round KO win over Gustavo Molina (22-10, 9 KO).
