Bradley Skeete turned in what was probably his best professional performance today in Birmingham, England, outpointing Sam Eggington to win the British and Commonwealth welterweight titles on scores of 115-113, 116-113, and 117-112. BLH had it 116-112 for Skeete.
Skeete (23-1, 10 KO) was able to comfortably outbox Eggington for much of the fight, making the defending champion miss and downright schooling him at points, particularly in the middle rounds, where Skeete was dodging shots and landing at will. Eggington (17-3, 9 KO) put in a gritty performance down the stretch, but it wasn't enough for him to pull out the win and retain his titles.
The loss snaps an eight-fight winning streak for Eggington, 22, whose previous two defeats were both in three-round Prizefighter tournament bouts. Skeete, 28, notches his fifth straight win after a loss to Frankie Gavin in 2014.
On the undercard, both Kal and Gamal Yafai won as anticipated. Gamal (9-0, 4 KO) captured the Commonwealth super bantamweight title with a seventh round stoppage of Bobby Jenkinson (9-2-1, 2 KO), while Kal (18-0, 12 KO) smashed Dixon Flores (12-4-2, 4 KO) in the first round, scoring a knockout on a wicked body shot.
