Last night on a special edition of Showtime Boxing from Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, we saw three up-and-coming young American fighters in action. The night went well for two of them, with a stirring upset in the middle fight of the evening, and all three fights ended by stoppage.
In the main event, Julian Williams (22-0-1, 14 KO) stopped Marcello Matano (16-2, 5 KO) in an IBF junior middleweight title eliminator, putting Williams on the doorstep of a shot against Jermall Charlo.
Williams finished the Italian underdog in the seventh round:
Avtandil Khurtsidze (32-2-2, 21 KO) scored the night's upset, mauling Antoine Douglas (19-1-1, 13 KO) en route to a stoppage early in the 10th and final round. Douglas had already been down twice, and never really recovered from the seventh round knockdown.
Here's the finish:
Also on the card, Tony Harrison (23-1, 19 KO) stopped Fernando Guerrero (28-4, 20 KO) in the sixth round, picking up his second straight win.
