Tonight at 8:30 pm EDT on NBC, welterweight prospect Errol Spence Jr takes a step up in class against former junior welterweight titleholder Chris Algieri in the main event, with a cruiserweight world title fight in the co-feature, and the return of another top prospect also on the bill.

Spence (19-0, 16 KO) is hyped as a potential next true welterweight ruler, partially by himself. He doesn't dismiss the Floyd Mayweather comparisons, and he's already said he thinks he's a better fighter than Manny Pacquiao. He's done well so far in his pro career, but Algieri (21-2, 8 KO) is a new level for him. That said, if Spence is as good as advertised, the feeling is he'll win convincingly. Still, Algieri has beaten Ruslan Provodnikov, hung tough with Manny Pacquiao despite being ill-prepared for that level, and gave Amir Khan a good test last year after getting a new trainer, so we'll see how this goes tonight.

Krzysztof Glowacki (25-0, 16 KO) will defend the WBO cruiserweight title for the first time against Steve Cunningham (28-7-1, 13 KO), who returns to the division after a three-year stint as an undersized heavyweight. Glowacki upset Marco Huck last year to win the belt with a stunning knockout. Cunningham is coming off of a draw against Antonio Tarver.

Light heavyweight Marcus Browne (17-0, 13 KO) will face fellow unbeaten prospect Radivoje Kaladjzic (21-0, 14 KO) in an 8-round bout.

ROUND BY ROUND

ERROL SPENCE JR vs CHRIS ALGIERI

Round 1: Spence with some solid body work in the first round, looking sharp here. Algieri looks fine, like Algieri, but Spence is showing his skills to start this one. Patient, effective work in the fight. Spence 10-9

Round 2: Spence with another sharp start, but Algieri clips him with a good counter hook. Spence coming back with a good uppercut and he might have Algieri hurt on a good left hand. He's got Algieri pinned on the ropes and he's unloading. Algieri springs out with a little right hand, but right now he's just trying to survive the pressure. Love the body work from Spence. Spence just working and working. Banging away on Algieri. Spence 10-9, 20-18

Round 3: Algieri doing some clever veteran work here and there, but the speed game is all Spence and he's controlling the tempo overall. Algieri doing better this round -- some solid counters. Spence holding the head down a fair amount when he throws, too. Worth noting. Spence with a great rally late to put a stamp on the round, though. Good body shots and a couple upstairs, too. Spence 10-9, 30-27

Round 4: Algieri down very early in the fourth round. Algieri will fight on, though. He looks motivated after the knockdown, but Spence still largely in control. Algieri sort of throws Spence to the ground late. Spence really on a roll in this fight. He looks very good. Spence 10-8, 40-35

Round 5: Algieri down again early in the fifth. Referee tells him "not too much more." Spence chasing. HUGE LEFT HAND AND DOWN GOES ALGIERI AGAIN! Referee stops it. Spence TKO-5

MARCUS BROWNE vs RADIVOJE KALAJDZIC

Round 1: Tentative feeling out process early. Kalajdzic dips down about halfway into the round and it's ruled a knockdown. Need to see replay, but did not look like a knockdown. Looked like Browne hit him while he was down. Yeah, that was no knockdown. Not a whole lot happened in the round otherwise. Browne 10-8

Round 2: So far a lot of flash and not a lot of substance. Crowd singing songs of their points of origin. Kalajdzic 10-9, Browne 19-18

Round 3: Kalajdzic with a nice shot early, but Browne catches him with a couple of clean shots. Really an ugly fight so far. Just really sloppy. Particularly from Kalajdzic. But also from Browne. Kalajdzic with a right, Browne with a left in return. Kalajdzic throwing a bunch of mess late, both guys land shots at the end. Browne 10-9, 29-27

Round 4: Browne with a good left, Kalajdzic with a good right, Browne with a left, and they clinch. Kalajdzic has Browne hurt! He's holding now. And he survives the round, basically. Did a good job at surviving. Kalajdzic 10-9, Browne 38-37

Round 5: Browne starting better this round, landing a few, even if he doesn't look like his legs are completely back. Kalajdzic not pressing a lot. The referee here is just awful. That remarkable New York commission shining again. Browne 10-9, 48-46

Round 6: Down goes Marcus Browne and HARD! There's a minute left in this round. Browne aggressively trying to hold when he gets back up. Kalajdzic trying to headhunt a bit much, allowing Browne to hold. Referee doing nothing about the holding. Kalajdzic 10-8, 56-56

Round 7: Browne on his bike to start the round. More holding. More holding. Ref doing nothing. Browne still not totally back. He takes a little right and holds yet again. Now an accidental headbutt and Kalajdzic is cut under the left eye. Scamper, hold, scamper, hold. Kalajdzic with a right, Browne back with a good hook. Kalajdzic 10-9, 66-65

Round 8: Browne rushes Kalajdzic like a tackling dummy and drives him into the ropes. Great start. Browne slips. A minute left. Browne is just tackling at Kalajdzic at this point. Kalajdzic the only one who tried to fight in this round. Kalajdzic 10-9, 76-74

KRZYSZTOF GLOWACKI vs STEVE CUNNINGHAM

Round 1: Kind of a feeling out round, Glowacki landing lefts through the guard a couple of times, but the fight staying at the range that helps Cunningham. Cunningham takes the opening round. Cunningham 10-9

Round 2: Cunningham down on a short left early in the round! He's up, but then immediately back down on another left. Glowacki throws Cunningham to the canvas, but Steve back up. His legs still aren't good. Cunningham trying to mix it up, but now he's holding in close. Glowacki taking his time now. He's confident he can hurt Cunningham when he catches him, so he's not pressing. Glowacki 10-7, 19-17

Round 3: Cunningham landing at range again. He looks fine to open this round. He recovers from knockdowns better than anyone in the sport, probably. Doesn't mean Glowacki is less dangerous. Cunningham shooting a long jab. USS getting in and then moving out before Glowacki can counter. Good left from Glowacki lands, though. Glowacki headhunting a bit. Big chants for Glowacki, he could be the new Polish star in NY/NJ. Nice bounce-back round for Cunningham, though. Cunningham 10-9, Glowacki 28-27

Round 4: Big chants for Glowacki again. Anothertumble to the canvas about halfway into the round, both down this time. Cunningham boxing well again this round. Cunningham 10-9, 37-37

Round 5: Cunningham overall looks quite sharp in this fight. He's been dropped before, he didn't panic at all. This is a pretty normal Steve Cunningham fight overall. Pins and needles but he's boxing very well overall. Cunningham jabbing and keeping distance. Glowacki with a rabbit punch, second warning for that. Cunningham with a hook. Cunningham 10-9, 47-46

Round 6: There was something to Glowacki not pressing in round 2/3, but he’s struggling with a Cunningham pace and fight. Might be time to press. Glowacki with a nice little combo. Cunningham still trying to keep the distance and fight at the pace that suits a 39-year-old veteran who's had some hard nights. I shade this round just a bit to Glowacki. Glowacki 10-9, 56-56

Round 7: Cunningham developing a mouse over his eye, doctor taking a look before the round starts. Over the right eye. Cunningham and Glowacki both solid this round. Glowacki marking up a bit, too. This one could go either way, but I liked Glowacki just a bit more. Glowacki 10-9, 66-65

Round 8: Cunningham's legs are getting tired again. Glowacki's timing has gotten better, he's made the adjustments, and Cunningham's not landing the jab much anymore. The counter game from Glowacki is looking more and more dangerous as the fight wears on. Cunningham with a right to the body. Glowacki 10-9, 76-74

Round 9: Cunningham coming out aggressively again this round, and Glowacki is there to meet him. Cunningham takes another rabbit punch. This time it's a HARD WARNING!! Cunningham with a better round here. Little exchanging late in the round. Good round in what has been a solid fight. That bump on Steve's head is getting ugly. I liked Cunningham a hair more here. Cunningham 10-9, Glowacki 85-84

Round 10: Cunningham with a solid body shot. Cunningham down a minute into the round! He's up. Legs are going. Glowacki flying in for the finish but Cunningham RIPS him with a monster right hand. Glowacki is hurt! Another good right from Cunningham. Glowacki trying not to show vulnerability, but he was definitely buzzed. Glowacki 10-8, 95-92

Round 11: Cunningham coming out swinging the right hand again. That's the punch he appears to need. Another interesting round, still kinda always waiting for the other shoe to drop with Cunningham. I liked Cunningham again here. It's really kind of a remarkable performance. Cunningham 10-9, Glowacki 104-102

Round 12: Cunningham just will not quit in this fight. Both guys worn down, obviously, and throwing big shots. And there's a late knockdown on Cunningham that seals it. Cunningham just all heart, but it wasn't enough tonight. Glowacki 10-8, 114-110
