Amir Khan is less than a month away from his high profile clash with Canelo Alvarez on May 7th and is saying that not having to drain himself down in weight is making him feel much stronger in training camp. He hopes this strength will pay off for him when he meets Canelo in the ring, who is surely expected to be the much bigger man on fight night.
"I think I do feel stronger. I feel strong and I'm sparring with some very tough guys in the gym," said Khan.
"Canelo is going to be stronger, obviously. He's one of the bigger guys, but I think what's going to happen to me is just happier at this weight and not killing myself."
Khan goes on to state that by not having to spend any time focusing on losing weight to make the limit, he can just completely focus on fine-tuning and executing his strategy.
"That's what we're working on because obviously normally we have to be losing a lot of weight, and going down in weight and stuff like that weakens me, so this time I won't be doing that. I'll just be focusing on my game plan for the fight and improving my boxing skills."
Khan finishes by promising that the stylistic match-up between Canelo and himself will make for an exciting match for as long as it lasts. So now with the event now closing in, are any of you being drawn-in by the intrigue?
