It's good news that Nick Blackwell is on the mend after suffering bleeding outside of his brain which forced doctors to put him in a medically induced coma. It's even better news that he recognizes the danger of this incident and has decided to discontinue his boxing career. When asked on Twitter about him potentially returning to boxing, Blackwell responded:
@philipjperry @BoxingRegister no that's me done I can't put my friends and family and self through that again but I'll still be involved

The 25-year-old Blackwell is expected to be released from the hospital soon and if this was indeed his last fight, he finishes his career with a 19-4-1, 8 KOs record. Blackwell has also been in touch with Chris Eubank Jr. on social media, telling him that he doesn't begrudge him for what happened, stating that while unfortunate, they were just doing their jobs.
@ChrisEubankJr hello bro no hard feelings,we were both there doing a job and it was unfortunate for what happened but I hope your ok champ

Blackwell also has posted many well-wishes to those who have supported him through his injury and raised money for his care, labeling them #BoxingFamily. Best of luck to Nick Blackwell in his future endeavors.
