Dominic Wade confident that he'll beat Gennady Golovkin, face Canelo Alvarez

Dominic Wade knows most observers aren't giving him a chance to beat Gennady Golovkin this weekend, but that just serves as added motivation for him.

Wil Esco is an assistant editor of Bad Left Hook and has been covering boxing for SB Nation since 2014.

It seems that only shot Dominic Wade is given to beat Gennady Golovkin this weekend is the one he's giving himself. With nearly all fans and media anticipating another knockout win for Golovkin, setting up what should be a middleweight title clash between GGG and Canelo Alvarez, Wade is expecting to upset the apple cart.

"Nobody thinks I can win. There aren't that many people out there, aware of just what I can do inside the ring, " the challenger tersely stressed.

"The given fact that most people underestimate me, extra motivates me towards victory this Saturday. I just don't care what people are talking about Golovkin´s future, I will be spoiling those plans, and I will be the one who fights Canelo!"

Wade, 26, goes on to insist that while he knows Golovkin is a good fighter, he spots holes in his game that he's going to exploit.

"I see flaws in his game that I can take advantage of. He's very strong but also very basic in some ways."

Now, in fairness, after watching a couple of Wade's recent fights I just don't think it's fair for him to label Golovkin as 'very basic.' The very fact that he doesn't appear to do anything better than Golovkin is part of the reason why he's such a massive underdog in this fight.

Maybe Wade will find a way shock the world though,  - it's just really hard for me to envision that scenario.
