The cruiserweight division, arguably the most entertaining in the sport, will see its fresh blood test itself on May 13th's ShoBox at Sam's Town. TMT product Andrew "The Beast" Tabiti headlines against Puerto Rico's Keith Tapia, while 2012 U.S. Olympian Michael Hunter faces Isiah Thomas in the co-feature.
Dan Rafael reports that the card could see two more bouts added.
Tabiti (12-0, 11 KO) has frequented PBC undercards in recent times, picking up wins on the undercards of Beibut Shumenov vs. B.J. Flores and Javier Fortuna vs. Carlos Ivan Velasquez. Tapia (17-0, 11 KO) was also last seen on PBC, picking up a decision over Garrett Wilson prior to Yenifel Vicente's brutal knockout of Juan Dominguez.
Hunter (11-0, 8 KO) and Thomas (15-0, 6 KO) are PBC alums as well. You may recall Thomas from his abridged bout with Murat Gassiev that saw the latter knock "Piston" out after the bell for a no-contest.
Both fights are quite well-matched; it will certainly be interesting to see which prospects make it out intact.
