Gennady Golovkin and Dominic Wade both made weight for Saturday night's HBO World Championship Boxing main event, which will see WBA and IBF middleweight titleholder Golovkin defend against IBF mandatory challenger Wade.
Golovkin (34-0, 31 KO) weighed in at 159 pounds, with Wade (18-0, 12 KO) at 159.6, both under the 160-pound limit. The co-feature is also set, as flyweight champion Roman "Chocolatito" Gonzalez of Nicaragua will defend his WBC belt against Puerto Rico's McWilliams Arroyo. Gonzalez (44-0, 38 KO) came in at 111.4 pounds, with Arroyo (16-2, 14 KO) at 111.6, both just under the division's 112-pound limit.
If you're looking for a reason to watch, the Friday edition of the BLH Podcast gives you five -- count 'em! -- and to be fair, I don't think many boxing fans are aching for reasons to tune in and see two of the best and most exciting fighters in the world, but that was a good way to get in what they call a "cheap plug" for the show.
BLH will have live coverage of the fights on Saturday at 10 pm EDT.
