Showtime - Jack vs Bute: Live streaming results and round by round coverage

It's a world title doubleheader at 168 pounds tonight on Showtime.

Esther Lin/SHOWTIME

Tonight at 10 pm EDT on Showtime, a pair of super middleweight titleholders defend with a unification fight between the winners coming later this year, meaning we've got the semifinals of a mini-tournament on our hands at 168 pounds.

In the main event, WBC titleholder Badou Jack (20-1-1, 12 KO) will defend against Lucian Bute (32-3, 25 KO), who may be getting his final world title opportunity at age 36. Bute is coming off of a loss to James DeGale -- who will fight in the co-feature -- but could be dangerous here, as styles always make fights.

"Chunky" DeGale (22-1, 14 KO) will defend his IBF title against mandatory challenger Rogelio "Porky" Medina (36-6, 30 KO), whose best win to date came in 2014 against J'Leon Love. Medina wasn't even really the mandatory, but Jose Uzcategui got hurt, and No. 3 ranked IBF contender Medina was the next highest ranked fighter, as they have no No. 2 at the moment.

ROUND BY ROUND

BADOU JACK vs LUCIAN BUTE

Round 1: Bute looking to start fast, but Jack not letting him land anything too big. Body shot from Jack, but Bute is the guy working here, poking shots from the outside. Jack doing a little better in the second half of the round. Jack 10-9

Round 2: Jack constantly moving around and making Bute reset, but nobody really taking the initiative on offense yet. Jack with a couple good body shots. Bute shooting upstairs. Jack 10-9, 20-18

Round 3: Jack's jab and body shots have really dictated this fight so far. This is a much better round for Bute, who gets a little more active and lands more than he had earlier. Bute 10-9, Jack 29-28

Round 4: Jack being warned about using his elbows, which Bute has complained about a couple of times. Bute targeting the body a bit but not quite getting there. A few straight lefts up top, though. Right hand to the jaw from Jack. Jack 10-9, 39-37

Round 5: Bute trying to up his output again. Bute poking shots in upstairs. Good round here for Bute, fight's a little dull but not tough to watch or anything. Just a couple of guys who aren't great at leading action. Jack landed a real good left hand in this round and picked it up late, too. Jack 10-9, 49-46

Round 6: Another round I lean toward Badou Jack. He's not dominating, really, just winning. Eddie Mustafa Muhammad has done a real good job with him. I still don't see special, but he's a good fighter. Jack 10-9, 59-55

Round 7: Jack's just the better fighter here. He's well coached, executing the game plan well, landing the more significant shots, and shutting Bute down. Jack 10-9, 69-64

Round 8: Another round for Badou Jack. There's not much excitement to describe or get, you know, excited about, but he's winning this fight, and doing so fairly handily. It's a really nice showing -- he's better here than he was against Dirrell or Groves. Jack 10-9, 79-73

Round 9: Jack's got more snap on his shots, landing cleaner when he lands power shots, using his jab well, the body work has added up. He's just sharp and studied and executing. It's simple and effective. Jack 10-9, 89-82

Round 10: This has been the best round of the fight, really great effort from Bute, good effort from Jack, who started fast, but I liked Bute here, he got going well. Might have needed this earlier. Bute 10-9, Jack 98-92

Round 11: Another fun round, Lucian Bute picking it up again this round, finds the left uppercut a home this round, and Jack is there fighting with him. Good round, and this fight is picking up nicely late. Bute 10-9, Jack 107-102

Round 12: Really a great effort late from Bute here, but Jack just built too much of a lead, or at least that's how I see it. Jack also isn't just giving these rounds away or anything -- it's Bute, at 36, trying his best to do something dramatic late. And he's having some success. Bute 10-9, Jack 116-112

JAMES DEGALE vs ROGELIO MEDINA

Round 1: DeGale landing some shots here and there, staying active enough, easily outboxing Medina here in the opening round, pretty much as expected. But Medina is there and throwing, and he's targeting the body. DeGale with a hard hook to the body. DeGale 10-9

Round 2: DeGale back to the body early in the round. Medina with a hook up top. Medina really determined here, trying to cut off the ring, trying to slow DeGale down. DeGale finding himself against the ropes pretty frequently, but he gets out quickly, too. Body shot and uppercut up top from Medina. DeGale pounding to the body now. Medina 10-9, 19-19

Round 3: Medina really effectively working in this fight. Nice flurry in the corner, and now DeGale firing back in the middle of the ring. HEY! This is a real good fight so far. Medina 10-9, 29-28

Round 4: Medina with a hard right, DeGale back with a right hand of his own. This has been a really interesting fight. I'm digging it. Medina fairly effective cutting the ring off, fighting confidently, DeGale landing good shots of his own, not panicking at all. Medina with body shots. Left hand uppercut from DeGale. Right hand up top, hook to the body from Medina. DeGale fighting offensively with his hands down at the end of the round here, now on his bike a bit. Medina chasing, DeGale literally jogging and getting booed. Medina 10-9, 39-37

Round 5: Left hook to the body from Medina. DeGale gets off the ropes and lands a body shot. Another hook to the body from Medina. DeGale with lots of flashy head movement and a shoulder butt. But Medina is the one throwing there. DeGale with a charge as the final minute of the round starts. This is good stuff. GREAT uppercut from DeGale late in the round. DeGale closed this round really nicely. DeGale 10-9, Medina 48-47

Round 6: DeGale moving around the ring here, Medina trying to cut him off in the corner, but DeGale's jab is controlling right now. Chopping right from Medina, shot back from DeGale. Body shot from Medina. Right hand down the middle pops DeGale's head back. Two good uppercuts and a great couple of body shots from DeGale, Medina backing down and DeGale really showed his ability there. That was beautiful stuff. DeGale 10-9, 57-57

Round 7: DeGale really sharpshooting now. Medina's snap seems to be fading just a bit, and DeGale is fighting very confidently. He's also not letting Medina march him around so much anymore. I like what DeGale's done the last few rounds. DeGale 10-9, 67-66

Round 8: Medina still working hard, incredibly active and landing a lot of shots this round. DeGale lighting Medina up in spots this round, though, and lands a great late flurry with another uppercut. But I liked Medina overall here -- DeGale won the last minute. Medina 10-9, 76-76

Round 9: This is a really nip and tuck fight. What you like best, what you lean toward, may determine your score. DeGale's accuracy has been terrific, but it's hard to say he's done more damage than Medina, who has gotten there on workrate. Hell of a fight. DeGale 10-9, 86-85

Round 10: Medina's pace slowing, DeGale keeping better distance this round. This is a hell of a good fight. I keep saying that but it's been sort of a sleeper, I don't think anyone thought this was going to be too interesting going in. Medina really whacking away at the body still. DeGale not countering nearly as much as anyone expected, I think. Medina 10-9, 95-95

Round 11: DeGale on his bike again to start this round. Medina really pressing and owning the ring in the first half of this round. DeGale's output has dropped big. DeGale does a fine backward somersault roll. Counter hook from Medina. Big round 11 for Medina. Medina 10-9, 105-104

Round 12: Medina with a hook up top. DeGale counters with a shot of his own. DeGale shoots an uppercut, and another, both blocked. Uppercut from Medina. Hook lands, and he's going back to the body. Right hand up top from Medina. DeGale sharpshooting again. DeGale 10-9, 114-114
