Nick Blackwell, who collapsed following his loss to Chris Eubank Jr. on March 26th, has emerged from his medically-induced coma and is talking with friends and family.

According to Hennessy Sports, Blackwell's bleeding came from outside the brain and did not require surgery. The former BBBofC champion awoke on Saturday and was already conversing with loved ones by Sunday. Though there's still no word as to Blackwell's future in the sport or what lingering issues may arise, it looks as though we might get a rare happy ending out of a potential tragedy.

Blackwell (19-4-1, 8 KO) took a nasty beating from Eubank, including a bevy of cringe-inducing uppercuts throughout their ten-round scrap. Though he continued to fight back throughout, referee Victor Loughlin ultimately called the bout when the massive swelling above Blackwell's left eye reached critical mass. Blackwell remained lucid and congratulated Eubank before collapsing and being rushed to St. Mary's Hospital.

We wish Blackwell smooth sailing on the road to recovery. Well done, champ.
