Bellew vs Makabu, Mosley vs Avanesyan, Burns vs di Rocco, more: Boxing fight times and TV schedule for May 27-29

It's a holiday weekend, so there aren't many big fights in the U.S., but there is some action, including two world title fights in the UK and Shane Mosley's return.

Friday, May 27

CBS Sports Network, 9:00 p.m. ET, Jarrell Miller vs Nick Guivas, Harmonita Dela Torre vs Guillermo Sanchez. The main event is a heavyweight fight with a prospect (Miller) against a 37-year-old club fighter from Kansas, and the co-feature is a prospect (Dela Torre) against a guy with a sub-.500 record.

Saturday, May 28

PolSat Sport (POL), 2:00 p.m. ET, Krzysztof Wlodarczyk vs Kai Kurzawa, Michal Cieslak vs Alexander Kubich. This is a somewhat unsettling banner, if I'm being completely honest.

Sky Sports (UK), 3:00 p.m. ET, Ricky Burns vs Michele di Rocco, Tyrone Nurse vs Willie Limond. The WBA's vacant junior welterweight title is on the line here, as Burns looks to become a three-division world champion. His opponent, di Rocco, is a 34-year-old Italian fighter and held the European title at 140 from 2013-15, defending it four times. Nurse-Limond is for the British belt at 140. BLH will have live coverage.

FS1, 10:00 p.m. ET, Miguel Vazquez vs Erick Boné, Miguel Flores vs Ruben Tamayo. This was originally supposed to be Vazquez against Felix Diaz Jr, who gave Lamont Peterson a tough fight last year, but instead it's Boné in on short notice as a replacement. Generally, we would cover this card, but there's a competing card on at the same time, and, well, it's a Miguel Vazquez non-title main event. So. Y'know. ExcuUUUuUuUuuUuUUse ME.

CBS Sports Network, 10:30 p.m. ET, Shane Mosley vs David Avanesyan. There's no co-feature signed yet for this show, and, well, who knows if there will actually be one? But Mosley is here, and he's fighting for the interim WBA welterweight title against Avanesyan, a guy who may have the ability to beat a 44-year-old Sugar Shane if, in fact, Mosley is washed up. But if Mosley can turn back the clock to even 2009 levels, he may prove too much. And really, if Mosley is going to seriously pursue the top levels again (and he is), this is a perfect fight. Avanesyan is skilled enough to make him look bad if he's really done, but not a big puncher. The winner will face the Thurman-Porter winner for the official and full WBA title. BLH will have live coverage.

Televisa (MEX), 11:00 p.m. ET, Nery Saguilan vs Marcos Villasana Jr, Rey Vargas vs Alexis Boureima Kabore.

Sunday, May 29

Sky Sports (UK), 1:00 p.m. ET, Tony Bellew vs Junior Makabu, Stephen Smith vs Daniel Eduardo Brizuela, Sean Dodd vs Pasquale di Silvo. There are a lot of other fights in action, including Callum Smith, Paul Smith, and David Price, in this big event at Liverpool's Goodison Park, an outdoor football stadium in Bellew's hometown. This is a dream assignment for Bellew, fighting for the vacant WBC cruiserweight title at the biggest possible venue at home, but it's a tough matchup. Makabu is a hell of a puncher and a legitimate contender, no pushover whatsoever. BLH will have live coverage.
