Floyd Mayweather is keeping the rumor mill buzzing as he gives some indication that he's considering fighting Conor McGregor in a Boxing vs. MMA collision.
"It's possible. It's possible. There was a name that was shot at me. But the rumors that y'all have been hearing [are] the rumors I started," Mayweather said in video posted by FightHype.com. "It may not be a rumor. Keep your fingers crossed. It may be a boxer versus an MMA fighter. So we just don't know."
Now the running logic is that this whole story is just tabloid talk to their respective names in the headlines while Mayweather lines up his next real opponent. And considering that McGregor is under contract with UFC, they obviously wouldn't clear a fight with Mayweather without their direct involvement in the promotion - so that stands to reason.
Thus far UFC's Dana White says there's nothing to this story, but that hasn't kept McGregor from fueling the flames of speculation by posting the following tweet yesterday:

So with Floyd demanding a $100M minimum to come back for a 50th fight, well, one has to think the number of opponents that would make this economically viable is extremely limited. Manny Pacquiao could be one, and Conor McGregor just might be another since it's enough of a freak show to generate causal fan interest.
How many opponents can you think of that would garner a $100M purse for Mayweather?
