WBA featherweight world champion Leo Santa Cruz is set to take on Carl Frampton on a July 30 PBC card at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY. Looking ahead to this fight, Leo Santa Cruz is fully confident that he has the edge in this fight as he believes that Frampton hates pressure fighters and that his frail chin will betray him. Here's what Santa Cruz had to say about the upcoming fight.
"I've never been to New York before and I'm looking forward to this big opportunity to put on a show for new fans in a new city," said Santa Cruz. "I always fight for the fans and I'm excited to be able to do that somewhere I haven't been before. Frampton is a good fighter. He has power and skills and he moves when he has to, but he has a weak chin. When he gets caught with a good punch, he goes down. He doesn't like pressure and I have that. I'm looking forward to putting on an exciting show at Barclays Center and I hope I leave with lots of new fans."
Santa Cruz (32-0-1, 18 KOs) is most recently coming off a fifth round stoppage of Kiko Martinez in February in a very good showing, and a decision win over Abner Mares before that. He's looking to keep that momentum going this summer against Frampton in what should be a pretty fun fight.
Frampton (22-0, 14 KOs) himself is coming off a big decision win against Scott Quigg this past February in a super bantamweight title fight, and is moving up to featherweight for this title shot against Santa Cruz. Frampton feels like he's in tremendous shape for this fight and rates Santa Cruz as the biggest fight of his career.
With two undefeated championship-caliber fighters colliding, something has got to give...Who ya got in this one?
