Eddie Hearn talks possible Golovkin-Eubank Jr. fight

Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn talks working with a "difficult" Eubank Sr., and his intentions to make a fight between Eubank Jr. and Gennady Golovkin.

In this video interview caught by FightHype.com, Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn discusses a little dust up at the Chris Eubank Jr.-Tom Doran press conference. He also goes on to talk about the Eubanks wanting a Gennady Golovkin fight and his intentions on getting it for them. Here are some excerpts from the video.

On Chris Eubank Sr. getting into several arguments at the presser:

"I think part of it is bravado and part of it is...I don't want to say [Eubank Sr.] is difficult, no, he is difficult. But he has got something. I've known Chris Eubank Sr. since I was 11 or 12. I grew up going to his fights, my father promoted him for many, many years...I have to give him the respect that he deserves, as a former fighter. But he is very difficult to deal with. But you've got to hang in there because they've got a good product. They've got a great fighter in Jr., and they've got an entertainer in Sr. And I think the fans like it, they like the package...

"I think there always comes a time where you say 'is it worth it?'...sometimes you have to ask yourself that question when you're dealing with the Eubanks - is it really worth it? And at the moment I think the answer is yes. That might change, but Jr. is a very good fighter.

On targeting a fight between Eubank Jr. and Gennady Golokvin:

"At the end of the day, I can only provide the opportunities to the fighters that they wish to take. When we re-signed Chris Eubank Jr. the message was clear: make the Golovkin fight. I'm now in a position where I believe I can make that fight. So if you really want it, you can take that fight. Now it's a huge gamble, huge gamble. It could be calculated, there's a lot of money on the table for that fight, but it's a very dangerous fight. They believe they can win that fight. I believe that it'll be certainly Golovkin's toughest fight yet. Can he win? It's gonna be a very tough fight.

"But yes, I'm up for making that fight. My job is to make the fights that my fighters and their team want. And if it happens to involve a huge amount of money, which that does, then fantastic.

"Seven days [from Eubank Jr.-Doran] is the time period where that fight will have to get made, otherwise Golovkin's team will move on."
