Tonight at 11 p.m. ET on UniMás, Solo Boxeo Tecate returns with former 140-pound titleholder Mike Alvarado in the main event, as he continues his comeback bid against Josh Torres.
Alvarado (35-4, 24 KO) is now competing in the welterweight division, and the hope is that he’ll look good tonight against Torres (15-4-2, 7 KO) and move into a larger fight by the end of the year. Torres is a scrappy fighter, though, and quite durable, and Alvarado definitely showed some rust in his first fight this year in March. Alvarado-Torres is scheduled for eight rounds.
In the co-feature, Matt Korobov (25-1, 14 KO) will face veteran Bryan Vera (23-10, 14 KO) in another eight-round fight. The 33-year-old Korobov is a long-stalled prospect who lost to Andy Lee in 2014, and just returned to the ring in January. Vera, 34, has lost four straight.
