Vargas vs Salido: Live streaming results and round by round coverage

Tonight at 10:30 p.m. ET on HBO Boxing After Dark, the WBC super featherweight title will be on the line in a main event that guarantees action, as Francisco Vargas and Orlando Salido square off, scheduled for 12 rounds.

Vargas (23-0-1, 17 KO) won the belt last November in a grueling war with Takashi Miura, which was a unanimous pick for Fight of the Year. Salido (43-13-3, 30 KO) had a pair of Fight of the Year contenders last year himself, losing a close fight to Rocky Martinez and then battling him to a draw in a rematch. It's easy to understand why this is a highly anticipated fight, and it's also taking place at the StubHub Center, which has become hallowed ground for people who love action in boxing.

In the co-feature, featherweight prospects Abraham Lopez (20-0-1, 15 KO) and Julian Ramirez (16-0, 8 KO) will meet in a 10-round fight.

Round 1: Vargas trying to box early, probably the right idea. Jabbing, jabbing, jabbing. Salido jabbing. Go figure. Right hand from Vargas. Right hand again from Vargas, a good one. He's opening up a bit more. Salido back with a right. Here we go. Raul Caiz stops the round too soon before letting them finish the last six seconds and dicks everything up. Vargas 10-9

Round 2: Salido charging forward to start the second, Vargas ties him up. Vargas unleashes two good body shots inside. Both guys winging power shots in close. Salido with an uppercut, just letting his hands fly right now. Vargas trying to land straight shots. Body shots from Vargas. Salido keeps coming forward, Vargas ties him up. This is Salido's pace. That's a veteran thing to be able to do. Vargas nailed with a hard left hook, and then more to the body, and Vargas is hurt. Vargas back with a hard hook to the body himself! HUGE SHOTS! Round 7: Salido starting well this round, landing some power shots, clean shots, and Vargas does look a bit tired. Vargas fires back enough to push Salido back. Now Vargas throwing with Salido on the ropes again. Vargas with another hard hook. Salido back to the body with a hook. This is a BRUTAL fight! And it's amazing and I love it. Salido 10-9, Vargas 67-66

Round 8: Salido really doing work on the inside now. Accidental butt that hurts Vargas a bit, where he's cut, and Caiz stops the fight to talk to both, warning Salido that he could lose a point on another butt. Good right from Salido. HUGE right around the side from Salido! Left hook from Salido! He's forcing Vargas to fight when Vargas wants to box. Another right from Salido. This is his fight right now. Round 9: More exchanges. More fighting. More brawling. More good offensive boxing. Vargas more in this round than the last one, he's picking back up. Good uppercut from Vargas. Vargas' jab more of a weapon this round. Good exchange at the end of the round. Vargas 10-9, 86-85

Round 10: Another tough little run here in the first minute, then Salido slips in the corner, ruled a slip rightly. Both guys throwing to the body still, tying it up inside. Salido starting to tire just a bit, as much as Salido tires. Vargas has found a second wind. Back inside, both throwing again. Just clobbering away. Vargas with a BIG rally, landing a series of hard shots! Uppercut snaps his head back! Salido backs down into the ropes! Vargas again going for something big! SALIDO WITH A BIG RIGHT! Round 11: Salido stings Vargas with a hard right about 40 seconds into this round. Vargas coming on strong now with accurate shots! Salido hammering away with his back to the ropes, but Vargas put him there and just keeps coming on himself. What a fight this is. It can't be said enough. Salido grinding away this round. Round 12: Salido strays low and clashes heads again. Referee Raul Caiz doesn't penalize or anything. He missed the low blow. Salido trying to scrap away. Salido with a hook, Vargas with a right. Salido with big shots, and both throwing hard! REALLY scrappy right now. HUGE HUGE HUGE RIGHT FROM VARGAS THAT SALIDO SOMEHOW TAKES! Salido just KEEPS THROWING. Salido relentless. JULIAN RAMIREZ vs ABRAHAM LOPEZ

Round 1: Right hand from Lopez early, doesn't land flush, Ramirez just eats it. Lopez with a little right. He's being walked back but he's landing the better shots right now. Uppercut gets in. Lopez with hooks to the body. Ramirez short on a straight left, but he's landed some decent body shots himself. Good left from Ramirez to the head, then another to the body, and then a right hand upstairs. Ramirez 10-9

Round 2: Good little trade inside and Lopez lands a hard uppercut that hurts Ramirez. Lopez swinging hard, and now Ramirez throwing back! THEY ARE TRADING LEATHER! LEFT HOOK FROM LOPEZ! Slowing down a bit, but throwing with intent and they're both really aggressive here. Body shots from both, phone booth fight right now. Lopez just battering Ramirez to the body right now, and then RAMIREZ COMES BACK HARD AT THE END OF THE ROUND WITH A BIG RALLY! Lopez back with a body shot! YEAH! Lopez 10-9, 19-19

Round 3: Ramirez back to the body to start the round. Ramirez keeping the pressure on, Lopez moving a lot more. Ramirez lighting Lopez up a bit right now, catching him with clean shots, both hands, head and body. Lopez back with a body shot. Right hand from Lopez, and another. Lopez with a hard body shot. Round 5: Slowing down a bit, mostly on the power of the shots being thrown, it's still plenty of active, but not the furious exchanges of earlier. Both guys marked up a bit, both guys still fighting. Ramirez 10-9, 49-46

Round 6: Lopez having a nice round here, again a bit quieter than the first three, this is the new pace of the fight, and it's still pretty good. Oh, hey, Ramirez has a cut over his right eye. Ruled as an accidental headbutt. Lopez 10-9, Ramirez 58-56

Round 7: Lederman questioning whether or not there was a headbutt that caused the cut. HBO producers can't find it. Anyway, they spend most of the round talking about that. Lopez had another good round. This is a close fight. Lopez 10-9, Ramirez 67-66

Round 8: Ramirez a little more consistent this round. As Roy puts it, we had a good fight that broke out into a boxing match, and still pretty good, but certainly not what those first three rounds promised. Ramirez 10-9, 77-75

Round 9: Lopez with a couple sharp rights early. Some holding this round, both guys understandably a little tired. This is probably easily the toughest night either has ever had at the office. Lopez with a good sized hematoma over his left eye. Ramirez 10-9, 87-84

Round 10: Lopez's trainer Joel Diaz tells him he's losing. And we're getting some good action again this round, as Lopez is going for it, and Ramirez is meeting the intensity. Good fight, both guys showing the results of a good fight. Ramirez 10-9, 97-93
